This is your chance to contribute to the SME Boise Section's mission of advancing the local mining and minerals community through information exchange and professional development. Bring your unique experience and expertise to the table, and help guide the community in a way that only you can!
The Section Officer positions listed below are currently open for nominations. If you believe that you or someone you know would be a suitable candidate, please submit a nomination using the Officer Nomination Form at the bottom of this page. We will contact each nominee to confirm their interest before announcing their candidacy.
Nominees must currently hold an active SME Professional Membership or plan to acquire (or renew) one prior to May 1, 2024. For additional information, please visit our Membership page.
Elected candidates will serve a one-year term, starting on July 1, 2024, and ending on June 30, 2025.
OFFICER ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Supports SME Boise Section by ensuring that all annual scheduled activities, technical session content, and other additional events are conducted in accordance with the mission, values, and goals of SME organization and SME Boise Section.
Ensures that all SME Boise Section administrative responsibilities are fulfilled to maintain viability and sustainability.
Supports SME Boise Section's continued economic viability by balancing expenditures and earnings.
Participates in SME Local Section Coordinator conference calls (or coordinates the participation of other Section Officers) to maintain engagement with the broader SME organization.
Coordinates periodic SME Boise Section Officer meetings.
Communicates SME Boise Section activities schedule with Section members and identifies individuals to assist with coordinating, planning, and executing SME Boise Section events.

Supports the activities of SME Boise Section at the request of the Section Chairman.
Maintains the SME Boise Section email database, including the timely preparation and distribution of communications to keep local section members informed and engaged.
Assists Section Chairman in coordinating SME Boise Section events, including technical sessions, student poster sessions, annual conferences, and other potential events as they arise.
Coordinates with Student Liaison to engage university students and facilitates in-person and virtual student outreach opportunities.
Assists the activities of the Section Secretary and Section Treasurer as needed.

Maintains the organization of SME Boise Section's important documents, files, and records.
Takes and records minutes during SME Boise Section Officer meetings and distributes them to Officers following meeting completion.
Coordinates with the Section Treasurer to ensure that the administrative and financial reporting responsibilities of SME Boise Section are met to maintain Section eligibility.
Assists Section Vice Chairman with maintaining SME Boise Section's email database and ensuring appropriate frequency and content of communications to local section members.
Supports the activities of SME Boise Section at the request of the Section Chairman.

Directs the financial affairs of SME Boise Section, including maintenance of the SME Boise Section bank accounts, event registration fees and distribution of student scholarships and other funds as needed.
Prepares SME Boise Section's annual financial report and distributes it to the SME organization's Sections Coordinator.
Supports the activities of SME Boise Section at the request of the Section Chairman.
